What would you like to work out?

Your answer

16

20 ÷ 100 × 80 = 16

Results display up to six decimal places. Discounts exclude tax, shipping and other charges.

How is percentage change calculated?

Subtract the original value from the new value, divide by the original value, and multiply by 100. The original value must be greater than zero here to keep increase/decrease labels unambiguous.

What is the difference between a discount and a percentage?

A percentage calculation finds the portion itself. A discount subtracts that portion from the original price. For example, 20% of 80 is 16, while 20% off 80 gives a sale price of 64.
